Scope and Contents
Sound recordings, transcripts, and administrative files documenting the activities of the Reichelt Oral History Program in the Florida State University Department of History. Significant interview topics include United States military, life in Florida and Tallahassee, and student life at Florida State University and its predecessor institution Florida State College for Women.

Conditions Governing Access
Access to interviews and administrative files is restricted. Requests for access may be addressed to lib-specialcollections@fsu.edu. Requests will be reviewed by curators in consideration of interview rights and interviewee privacy. Please be as specific as possible in placing an access request, including interviewee name, interview date, and OHP Control Number where possible.
Most transcripts are available digitally. Staff should contact curators before retrieving containers from offsite storage.

Biographical or Historical Information
The Reichelt Oral History Program was founded in the Florida State University Department of History in 1969 under by Dr. Edward F. Keuchel, with the intent of teaching oral history techniques to students while documenting FSU’s history. In 1996, with the encouragement of university president Sandy D’Alemberte, the program was established permanently as an entity within the History Department. The program later expanded to include histories on the University, the Florida State College for Women, Tallahassee, Florida, veterans of World War II, the Korean conflict, the Vietnam War, and other military conflicts.
