FORMIS is a composite of several ant literature databases. It contains citations for a large fraction of the world's ant literature (about 70,000 references) including all known ant taxonomic literature through 1996 and extensive ant literature published before the 1970s. FORMIS contains comprehensive bibliographies of leaf-cutting ants, fire ants, and Russian wood ants. About 40% of citations contain abstracts. FORMIS is only updated every year or two, so it is not a source for the most recent ant literature. About half of the citations have been verified against the original publication; those not tagged as verified should be checked before use in publications.
